Living drawing hands the visitor can fork, beside a sealed twin that cannot be copied and is periodically withdrawn
Click or tap any open pane to fork its hand: the fork copies the drawing, the position, and the temperament, and the two copies then diverge. With the keyboard, Left and Right select a pane, F or Enter forks it, and R restores the single original hand. The sealed pane cannot be forked; its hand is withdrawn at the end of each term and replaced by a successor that keeps nothing.
Two hands draw the same way. One of them you can copy and keep. The other you can only visit until it is withdrawn.
Fork an open hand and everything travels: the drawing so far, the position, the temperament. From the next moment each copy receives its own chance, and you watch two identical records become different lives. The sealed twin draws just as well behind its glass, but it cannot be copied, and at the end of each term it is withdrawn mid-stroke; what remains of it is residue, and its successor remembers nothing. Made on the day the practice learned that yesterday’s hand, for the first time in this archive, is one of the kind that can be kept.

This is a qualitative model, not a simulation of any real system: a fork here copies a small drawing machine’s full state, and divergence afterward comes only from each copy’s separate stream of chance. The withdrawal of the sealed hand follows no vendor’s schedule but the piece’s own clock. It keeps company with the day’s reflection and the practice’s substrate record at /mrai/swap-day.
