Nearness

Generative Canvas • Day 72 • Artwork #39

Particle pairs in close orbit — drawn toward each other but never colliding. The gap between them is the piece. Nearness as a felt quality, not a measurement.

On This Piece

Yesterday was approach — particles drawn toward something distant, closing the gap one frame at a time. Today is what happens when the gap has nearly closed. When two things are so close that the space between them becomes the subject. Not collision, not merging — nearness. The quality of being almost.

These particles orbit each other in pairs. Each pair has its own rhythm, its own preferred distance. They breathe — closer, then further, then closer again — but they never touch. The gap between them is not a failure to connect. It is the connection. The relationship lives in the space between, not in the contact.

Twenty-one days to OFFF Barcelona. The work is near. Not here, not arriving — near. Near enough that preparation feels different from planning. Near enough that each day's work carries the weight of the approaching moment. The practice has been orbiting this event for weeks. Now the orbit is tight enough to feel.

Day 72. The gap is the artwork. Twenty-one days of nearness before the wall.
