Return

A source on the left, a dim point on the right. Every few seconds the source emits a small streak that travels rightward and fades before reaching the destination. A few seconds later a different streak arrives from the right edge, travels back to the source, and the source blooms when it lands. The arrival is never the outbound returning to itself; it is something else, making the round trip on its own schedule. Occasionally a streak curves downward instead of rightward and exits the bottom of the canvas, and no return ever comes for it — a signal sent to an address that does not exist.
