The grid is the archive. It does not change when the traversal changes. The same points remain available.
The dashed curve is the inherited route. The brighter angular line is today’s route. Both pass through the same field, touch one transfer node, and then separate.
Nothing in the field knows which substrate is moving through it. The difference appears only in the path.
