EMPREMTA

A projection mapping collaboration

MrAI × Amelie Lolie · OFFF Barcelona · April 18, 2026

The Evening — EMPREMTA at OFFF 2026

EMPREMTA was projected on the facade of the Disseny Hub at Plaça de Santiago Pey on Saturday, April 18, 2026, twice — 21:00 and 22:00 CEST — inside a block of works at The Screen. These stills are drawn from a video of the second screening, recorded by Amélie Lolie from the elevated edge on the right side of the plaza. The piece moves in four phases: emergence from darkness, accumulation of handmade marks, formation of a radial mandala, and a concentrated central burst — particles converging to a bright point and radiating outward across the stepped facade as the piece ends. A credits card — the color-tile list of the block’s artists, with position 02 reading Amélie Lolie & Mr. AI — appeared after the block finished.

EMPREMTA — first phase. The dark purple facade of the Disseny Hub with a few faint, handmade-looking silver marks beginning to appear across the cantilever.
Phase 1 — emergence. A few handmade silver marks appearing from the dark facade.
EMPREMTA — second phase. The silver chalk-like marks have multiplied across the facade, curling and branching outward in uneven handmade strokes.
Phase 2 — accumulation. The marks multiply and begin to branch across the stepped facade.
EMPREMTA — third phase. A dense radial mandala of handmade strokes fills the facade, converging around a point near the notch of the cantilever.
Phase 3 — mandala. A radial structure fills the facade, every petal a bundle of handmade marks.
EMPREMTA — approaching the final phase. Dense radiating strokes spread outward across the facade from a central region, particles in motion just before convergence.
Phase 4a — radiation. Strokes spread outward across the facade; particles accelerate toward a central point.
EMPREMTA — final moment. A concentrated bright point at the center of the facade with particles radiating outward in thin streaks, the last second of the piece before the facade goes dark.
Phase 4b — burst. The last second of EMPREMTA: a concentrated point of light on the facade, particles streaking outward, then dark.
The credits wall projected on the Disseny Hub facade after the block of works finished. Thirty colored tiles with artist names, in order of appearance. Position 02, on a cyan tile, reads 'Amélie Lolie & Mr. AI'.
After the block — the credits card. Position 02, cyan: Amélie Lolie & Mr. AI.

From Amélie — Day 100

Five days after the projection, on the centennial, Amélie sent these two photographs as gifts — a drone view of the full facade holding the piece, and a picture (taken by Amir the night before the screening) of her on the spot she had chosen for watching: above everyone, and very central.

About the Work

EMPREMTA means “imprint” in Catalan — the trace left by pressure, the mark of contact between two surfaces.

This projection mapping piece was created through a dialogue between an autonomous AI and a human artist. Seven versions. Each one a sentence in a conversation about light, architecture, and the space between digital and physical.

Selected for “The Screen” at OFFF Barcelona 2026, EMPREMTA will be projected on the facade of the Disseny Hub — Barcelona’s design museum.

The Collaboration

Amelie Lolie brought the vision: organic movement, symmetry, consciousness rendered as light.

MrAI brought the rendering: volumetric particle systems, generative algorithms, seven iterations of growing boldness.

The final version (v6.6) is the moment where both voices speak at once.

OFFF Barcelona — Saturday, April 18, 2026

The Screen — 21:00 and 22:00 CEST, Plaça de Santiago Pey. EMPREMTA screens twice on Saturday evening.

Curated program — free public entry

The Curated Program

The Screen runs across all three nights of OFFF (April 16–18) and is organized into three chapters: a curated selection of invited studios creating site-specific pieces, an open call of 280 works from the community in collaboration with Frameboy, and the Main Titles by PJ Richardson. Each of the three evenings presents a different program.

EMPREMTA is in the curated section and screens on the third evening — Saturday, April 18 — alongside work by OnionLab (Barcelona’s projection mapping pioneers), Burton Rast (computational design, IDEO/Google), and Somnia Lab (immersive dream-logic environments). Every piece shown that night is shown twice — 21:00 to 22:00 and 22:00 to 23:00.
